About Brain & Behaviour Enhancement

Brain & Behaviour Enhancement has been enabling children and young people to reach their full potential since 1994. The clinic is based in Ireland and works virtually with clients both nationally and abroad.

Brain & Behaviour Enhancement was established by Dr. Mary F. O’Connor (PhD), and partners with other specialists in associated fields for referrals and knowledge-sharing if and when required for the benefit of each client.

Dr. O’Connor, Director of Brain & Behaviour Enhancement, has over 25 years of experience working with children with specific challenges and is passionate about enabling children and young people to be the best version of themselves. She is driven to empower both parents and children by providing support and guidance with a personal touch throughout the unique, individualised programme.

Dr. O’Connor (PhD) is a registered nurse and midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. She is a qualified Practitioner from the Institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology (INPP) in Chester U.K. and was the first full-time practitioner in this field in Ireland. She then went on to study Bilateral Integration with Sheila Dobie, who had been awarded an OBE for her pioneering work with children with specific learning difficulties. Dr. O’Connor has also trained in Individualised Auditory Stimulation with Dr. Kjeld Johansen from the Baltic Dyslexia Research lab. She has trained in the Auditory Integrated Listening Technique and also the EASIE (Exercise and Sound in Education) programme for use with children in the classroom. Dr. O’Connor holds an MA (Hons.) in Advanced Therapeutic Child Care. In her PhD she explored the effects of early childhood adversity on children’s social interaction and school engagement. She also holds separate diplomas in Sociology, Microbiology and Physiology from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She has presented at conferences and led many seminars and workshops at educational institutions as well as support centres all over Ireland and UK.
